Notes |
The Fish and Wildlife Service, in the Department of the Interior, and the National Marine
Fisheries Service, in the Department of Commerce, share responsibility for administration of the Endangered
Species Act. Generally, the National Marine Fisheries deals with those species occurring in marine environments
and anadromous fish, while the Fish and Wildlife Service is responsible for terrestrial and freshwater species
and migratory birds. Additionally, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, in the Department of
Agriculture, oversees importation and exportation of listed terrestrial plants. |
